A close friend brought his wife home from hospital she had AD but was dying with pulmonary edema. Hospice pre arranged for hospital bed to be placed in home and the apparatus to hook up to her to administer meds. When ambulance brought her home Hisoice nurse had her placed in the bed gave husband instructions on the meds and left. I thought Hospice stayed with you 24/7 until the end.
With hospice AT HOME you are not getting 24/7 care in your home with your loved one - you can call them in to do checks, etc. but you are not getting 1:1 medical care.
When I met with hospice for my Mom we have a committee meeting, I was there, my Dad, my sig other, the rehab social worker and the rep from hospice... to which she went over all the aspects of what they offered. I know for a spouse it is a deer in headlights moment and they probably didn't digest half of what was said. I know my Dad didn't.
