She lives alone and her children do not want to put her into a home. They have disconnected her stove/oven because they do not want her to cook and forget to turn off the gas. There are family problems among the children where they do not talk to one another. I am under the impression that whoever is in charge of the money does not want to put her into a home because then they will have to use whatever money is there to pay for her living expenses in the whatever facility they choose. The children do not come and visit very often except for the one who comes once or twice a week but does not stay very long. I do not want to intervene but I do think something needs to be done and I do not think she should be living in that house alone given her decreasing mental health. Is there anything that can be done?

Adult protective services is why mthr is here 5 years later! It was concerned people calling APS, the nursing home where she went looking for mom calling, and the police calling when ladies who'd given her a ride but she did not know where to, which put the gears in motion. Just keep calling! It can be anonymous reports but those with your name are given more weight... The state can always be her emergency guardian if she is in need of Immediate care.

Well....yesterday my mother went over to the neighbors house. She of course did not know them. Dementia fun! She knows them fine. She was looking for the people who lived there 30 years ago. I am the daughter who comes twice a day and gives pills. My mom for some reason just had a crazy sundowners late afternoon. She also called to tell me all about it. All my mothers neighbors know what's going on. I don't want to put her in memory care yet either. I also would not mind if someone called in adult protective services for her. That just means you are a caring neighbor and don't want any harm to come to her. I'll be calling the neighbor of my mom's this morning lol! Also she has a Dr. appointment next week. It may be time for some med. adjustment.
