You just place the capsule in a spoonful of pudding and feed it to the person. If you put the capsule in the container of pudding itself it can get sticky and the person may not eat it because it's sticky and unappealing.

Don't empty the contents of the capsule. The med is in capsule form for a reason.

Ask the Dr or pharmacist if it is ok to open the capsule if not I would try ice cream with fruit then they are not surprised if it's lumpy not nuts though they might try biting it which could be bad. And tell them you a 're giving them a pill with it. No one likes to be tricked.

I take all my pills in a mouthful of well chewed food and then wash them down well. All the other suggestions are good too, it just has to be soft food and no trickery. That is unless there is deiberate non compliance. sticky pills are harder to swallow. check and see if the meds come in a liquid form and if anything can be crushed. some can't because they are long acting and others because they taste bad. Check with your pharmacist to see which ones can be crushed. I would be cautious with spraying the throat for anyone who is having difficulty swallowing you don't want it to go into the lungs accidentally and maybe cause an aspiration pneumonia.

I have been told there is a spray that helps. I haven't come across it yet or investigated thoroughly but will & get back. My mom could use this too. Thanks for the reminder.
