Find Care & Housing
Review the assisted living facility's documents that were signed upon admission. The ALF where my MOM was diod not take Medicaid. The deal was that if her money ran out, she had to move out. They had done a financial statement of sorts upon admission. I a sure I would have heard from them near the end of her financial resources. Have y ou pursued other options? Does he qualify for Veteran's benefits? If AL is no longer an option, he may qualify for a skilled nursing facility that accepts Medicaid residents. Good luck

The group home in Arizona will notify social services and the State of Arizona will take over; he will then be a Ward of the state. The state will then decide whether to support him where he is or move him to a state facility.

Carolyn, why are YOU paying for his care? Have you applied for Medicaid?

Carolyn, I noticed in your profile that your Dad is living in Assisted Living, normally Medicaid doesn't pay the full cost of Assisted Living, but it will pay for the full cost if your Dad moves into a nursing home.

There is no worry about your Dad being out in the street if you can locate a nursing home that will take Medicaid even if your Dad is still going through the approval process. I know taking care of one's elderly parent can be so complex and confusing at times.
