I recently put my mom in Assisted Care in Ga. Due to laws in the way meds are packaged. Cost as went up by a crazy amounf. Checking with pharmacy on her supplemental insurance, I think there is a issue here. She is a diabetic. With helping handz and her supplemental I had cost down to less than $100 per month for meds. New cost throuvh assisted care pharmacy approx. $1500, in additiion to cost for Assisted Care She also has to have Insulin pens in Assisted Care. Her preferred pharmacy does not do med packaging for assisted care. I'm contacting Drs also .
My question. I believe the reason for pens and this packaging is because assisted has few nurses, most nurse tech dispensing meds. In a regular nursing home is this also true about med packaging and pens? More nurses on staff, not just Techs.
