Do you mean Medicare? You do not become eligible for Medicare until 65 unless there are extenuating circumstances.

It is generally better to delay SS until age 70.

I know a lot of people who are on Social Security, but are not on Medicaid.    Medicaid needs to be applied for and would not automatically kick in.
If you're asking about Medicare, that's not the same thing as Medicaid.

Or do you mean SSI; Social Security Supplementary Income?

You can file for SS now but u will only receive 75% of the hundred u would receive at 66 and plus months depending on the year you were born. If u wait till 70 I think its 135%.

If u get SS now, Medicare will be automatic at 65, A & B. (this is how it worked for husband and me at 62) You will need to choose a suppliment that may pay for the 20% that Medicare does not pay. The suppliment should include a prescription plan because Medicare does not pay for prescriptions.

Medicaid is a State health insurance. Its for people with low income. There is criteria that needs to be met. What I suggest is you contact your Office of Aging. They can help you sort out what you need in way of health insurance.
