I try not to nag because he tells me “stop, stop, just stop”. His days consist of smoking, eating, using his I-pad, laying in the recliner all bundled up sometimes doing crosswords and reading the paper, usually only in his bathrobe. Because he has pain in his back and hip area he doesn’t like to wear underwear or pants because it hurts him. When he does shower I try to take him out to dinner. He’s usually not dressed so when I go somewhere I can’t just ask him to come with me.
i don’t quite understand how wearing pants could cause your husband pain, though, unless getting in and out of them for toileting or dressing is difficult or they are tight fitting. My husband wears sweatpants for that reason.
You may need to try harder not to nag if “stop, just stop” Is his reaction. If you suggest an activity and he says no, let it be and go yourself. But, speak with his doctor on your next visit about his mood and lethargy.
There is always the fear of falling, as bath mats can become like an ice rink if one is using liquid soap that has moisturizers, and the same with hair conditioners.
Another issue is claustrophobia, which I am experiencing. I plan to remove the glass doors on the tub/shower and use a regular shower curtain.
Has hubby tried taking just a regular sit down bath. That can work, except when trying to stand up again :P
Inbetween showers, I found natural baby wipes that work great. I think they are
called Water Wipes.
There are times I wish I could hook up the water sprinkler outside to run through it, it would be more fun. Or be able to walk through a mist of Lysol spray.
