Looking to develop a secondary ministry for the Senior Adult Ministry at my church wherein my Seniors would pass out shoeboxes with needs and wants inside and wrapped with a note of prayer and/or encouragement within. I need to find out where I can reach homebound and Seniors who may be alone to deliver these shoebox gifts to personally. Any ideas on how I can get such information?

Call the Area Agency on Aging.

In this area there is a senior service agency that looks for volunteers every year to deliver meals and donated holiday gifts.

Call the Washington Township senior center on Rt 725 (where they have the Christmas light trail). They know know where everything is going on in the 2area and may be able to alert you to needs. Also the 741 Center can tell you about needs in the northern Warren County area. Hospitality House in Lebanon know about programs and activities for the homeless families. This same type of ministry is available thru many churches. My mother used to live in the Lebanon and she got inundated with requests to visit, poinsettias, boxes of candy and the shoeboxes. Her own church did the showboxes. But you might find some undiscovered needs.

We started with our Church Members who were shut ins.

I worked for an agency who gave out holiday baskets. We had to get written permission to give their info out. This was because people would call to adopt the children. So be aware that places like Meals on Wheels may not be able to give u info on the people they serve.

I suggest you begin like JoAnn or sign up to volunteers to deliver meals on wheels or some program for seniors. . The Dept of Aging won’t give you a list due to HIPPA.
Very nice of you to want to share and bring them the true spirit of Christmas.
