My brother will inherit everything except a old piano and her silverware. I am paying all the bills that came in after she died. Also have to continue to pay utilities, home insurance, etc. Brother still lives in house. I am the executor of the will. Barbara

Find Care & Housing
Usually the Executor pays the bills from whatever funds are in the estate, which includes the house.... you do NOT use your own money. Will selling the old piano and the silverware bring in enough to pay the bills? If not, maybe the house needs to be sold to pay off the bills.

Just because your brother inherits the house, it doesn't mean he gets the house free for life. Does he want to continue to live in the house? If so, have him refinance the house and pull out equity to use to pay the bills. As for next month's utilities, house insurance, property taxes, those bills now belong to your brother.

First question: Can you tell creditors that mom died and you have to wait for the money cause the bank froze the accounts?
Brother has Life Deed for home. He is on SSI and gets food stamps. Mom was scared he would be homeless. Said the house isn't worth enough to pay for condo or rent for brother. He is only 53. Plus he wanted to continue to live jn house so mom made sure he could. He was thrown out if subsided apartment. Didnt pass inspection. Waiting list to get back in subsiduzed apartment is years long. Mom wrote a special needs trust. I run it.
