Check the Florida state website for a Florida elder agency and search for various programs for low income seniors. Michigan's Elder Law of Michigan offers those kinds of links. Your friend might be able to get other food assistance, such as the bridge program which offers assistance with food.

There might be other topics on savings for elders, such as discounted utility rates (which we have in Michigan).

My grandpa got his through Meals on Wheels. His doctor had to write a recommendation for it in order for them to add it his daily delivery. We signed him up for Meals on Wheels via the Area Agency on Aging. That is so nice that you are looking out for your neighbor!
