Pops passed away Feb. 23rd and the 2 sons are trying to take everything from sister, whom he lived with for the last 5 months. I even told them they didn't owe me for the 48 hrs. I stayed with Pops cause he didn't want me to leave. The last thing I said to him was, "Are you ok? Are you scared?" He shook his head yes. I told him, "I'm not leaving you, I'm right here." He held on to my hand and I just sat there and talked to him.

Power of Attorney stops immediately on the death of the person it's for. So the son with financial POA can't use it to pay you even if he wants to. Any money you're owed for taking care of your father (whether that's household expenses or agreed fees or whatever) will have to come from your father's estate, and that will be up to your father's executor(s). Do you know who's doing that?

What are you owed $1400 for?

As Country mouse said.

You will need to make up a bill with the info needed to pay you. If its hours u cared for Dad list them and any out of Pocket, then present the bill to the Executor. You can be considered a debt that needs payment or like me, my Out of Pocket was part of the final accounting. I received a separate check from my inheritance.

POA ends the day he died. You can turn in your hours to the executor who is taking care of the estate an eventually it will be payed out
