She recently had a stroke and could not use her legs. The acute rehab unit in the hospital said she could walk 100 feet with a walker and could climb 4 steps so she was good to go home. I live in a bi-level which has 7 steps to get in or out. It took me 22 minutes to get her in to the house. What could I do to get her into a skilled nursing facility with rehab?

Did you meet with the discharge planner or the social worker at the rehab? Did you voice your concerns then? You could try contacting the social worker at the rehab and asking if there’s any way to get mom back into rehab. I’m afraid, though, that she may need to be readmitted to the hospital in kind of a do over. Your best bet would be to call her doctor and ask for help from them.

The rehab didn't release her, Medicare did. She must have hit a plateau.
Ask her PCP if she can have home therapy.

I live in a 4 level split. Mom was in the bottom level, what used to be the family room. We had a shower put in. She had 3 steps out the back where we had the cars. But...it was six steps up to the next floor. She wasn't suppose to do stairs because she wasn't steady on her feet. But she would climb them. TG no falls. I would gate her in but I hated doing that. Eventually I placed her in an AL here she could walk around the building all day long. You may have to make this decision eventually.
