I care for a 90 year old lady and they keep blaming her UTI for the way she behaves. I'm a 24 hr caregiver I live with her and her behavior has gotten worse every day lashing out at me ,screaming at me and also being violent with me several times and they always say it's the UTI that gets her that way...does dementia come with these behaviors?

H*ll yeah. Found out about this one when mom became unglued. She just "knew" I was stealing her money and she "saw" me setting fires and insisted that I went to the AL fac she was in at the time and hit her. She was in the AL because I was having a 12 pound fibroided uterus. Called the dr and sure enough, uti.

Lisa, here is a very good article that I found here on Aging Care that helps explains what a UTI can do to an elderly person. https://www.agingcare.com/articles/urinary-tract-infection-symptoms-151547.htm

UTI's affect elders in strange ways. They can become psychotic and agitated, even violent. The people were telling you the truth about the UTI's. Is she receiving antibiotics?
