She’s living with her son and his girlfriend. A few weeks ago, she forgot her bag in her son's car. She went back to get it the next day, it wasn’t there. In her bag had all her personal belongings. She had 2 wallets, ID, birth certificate, social security card, her husband's ashes on the necklace in a pendant, and etc. She’s been telling her son she knows she left her bag in his car and now it’s missing. His girlfriend is very rude to her. Tells her she needs to buy her own food and laundry soap and etc. My aunty has the feeling that her son's girlfriend has her bag at her house and doesn’t want to admit it. Unfortunately, they are neglecting her. Making her starve, not buying food for the house. She has seizures!!

I hope you helped your cousin and told him to help his mom, cancel credit and atm cards, stop or close bank accounts, checks can only be stopped for so many months. put a freeze on her credit report. Make a police report.. Does he know his car may have been broken into? Help her get another state ID CARD, medical ID card, etc... so many things to put flags on..
1: Social security: freeze her credit.
2: BANK ACCOUNTS
3: Medical cards
4: Driver's license or Senior ID CARDS
5: all other credit cards or department store cards, Costco, Sam's club, Macy's, Target, etc...
6: Anyone have other ideas of what needs to be "checked", "changed", or cancelled?
7: A POLICE REPORT NEEDS TO BE DONE FOR HER SECURITY. They can come to her home. It is important.... They can tell police, she LOST the wallets, she thought they were in son's car.. but they are missing... cannot find them.

Contact son, and tell him that his car was broken into, since that was where his mom's belongings were...??? I lost my wallet last week... I canceled my cards etc. Yesterday I went to get my lunch at my local place... I left my wallet on counter, and didn't even realize it. The owner kept it for me. tried to reach out to me, but since it was my wallet, I didn't have my cell number in it... Luckily, I got every thing, all though, I think I did have cash in it?///?? I got the important things back... :) Plus I gave them a good tip :) yeah ! I got it back,, I am so happy....
I need to slow down.. and try to think of what I need to do.. and be thankful for who and what and when and where. and things I can remember for now... :)
Please forgive my trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. RIGHT? :) I am learning..always trying . JUST DO GOOD... BE Thankful.. BE KIND, and talk with your loved ones... Discussions, be open to the ones who are helping out and the ones who are questioning, talk, be calm... "Me? Be Calm?" I am trying to learn that word.. CALM... breathe, slow down, breathe, don't shout, don't point , listen, be calm, and listen.. and help your loved ones.

Have you spoken to the son?

The story that Aunty is telling may be entirely true. Maybe she is being abused and neglected.

Or, maybe Aunty has developed dementia and/ or has a UTI, which can cause symptoms that mimic dementia.

I would contact the son and ask how his mother's health is.

On the day when your aunty left her bag in her son's car, where had they been?

Forget the girlfriend. Speak to the son. If the bag was not in his car, where had they been before and what is HE (not girlfriend) doing to help her either retrieve it or at least sort out what to do about the important documents?

This house they're all living in together. Is it aunty's house or the son's house? But you say that the girlfriend has her own house, so presumably then she isn't living with the son full-time. Is the girlfriend new on the scene?

NOTIFY HER DOCTOR, ASK FOR IN HOME EVALUATION;;; PALLIATIVE CARE. DOCTOR WILL SET UP APPOINTMENTS FOR HER TO BE EVALUATED AT HOME. Anything going awry at home, the nurses will surely notice...

If she actually had all those ID's and birth cetificate in a wallet, seems kinda strange, she would actually carry all of that for everyday use.. I know, she is elder, but really... FIRST THING: she needs to report it. cancel any credit cards, put a hold on her credit reports, call social securty report it. call all the banks she has accounts with, secure all that information. get new cards cancel old ones.
Do not let her assume the galfriend is vindictive or has alternate "plans". that is just making this whole situation more toxic. It's bad enough the lady carries her birth certificate, social security care around in a purse or wallets. So, do not add fuel to the fire..SHE ALSO NEEDS TO FILE A POLICE REPORT.Tell the plice she cannot find her wallets, she doesn't know if they were stolen.
Just file a "missing ID" REPORT. You have no proof it was stolen, but if something comes up on her CREDIT REPORT, then you have more proof.
Set her up with Meals on Wheels, or other social activities to get her food, local churches or places. Laundry soap is not all that expensive.

HER SON SHOULD BE PROTECTING MOM... HE IS LETTING THAT HAPPEN??? IF THIS IS REALLY HAPPENING, WHY IS HE ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN TO HIS MOTHER !!! ???

FILE A POLICE REPORT AND NOTIFY SOCIAL SECURITY ABOUT THE MISSING DOCUMENTS. FREEZE HER CREDIT FOR 90 DAYS or more.
