Find Care & Housing

My mother is doing the same thing only thank God not anywhere but in the bed!!!. She thinks it's funny when she makes a big mess and I have to clean her up. Even my caregiver who only comes twice a week is disgusted with her. Speaking only for myself and having taken care of her for eight years in one capacity or another, I'm going the nursing home route. The cost will be well worth my sanity and I will hopefully again have a life!!! Enough is Enough!!!!

I just found this post of yours— I am so relieved to read it. My mom is not yet at this stage but has recently started peeing in bed and when I get to her she is already soaked despite depends. I have disposable bed protectors on her bed and chairs but I too think sometimes she is faking things. My logical side says why would she want to fake and then my “sick of it all” side swears she is doing everything to just do the opposite of what I say. She will go head to head with me and not with anyone else. So frustrating.

Pooping and peeing all over the house? No. That’s a deal breaker.

I have found that anything that is about the height of a toilet is fair game, mil wears depends. Now, if she would just keep them on, don't shred them, etc etc

First of all, I don't think she's faking. As I was reading ur post with tears in my eyes, it took my kind bck to when my daughter was 2yrs old going through her potty training. For some strange reason, at Times she would poop in strange places....her favorite was the corners. She was a child and exploring the different places to go, I guess. I must admit it scared me as I wondered if it was psychological. She turned out fine.
I once heard, that we go from a child, adult and in our old age back to being a child (stage). This is probably what's happening to your Mom's. She really wouldn't be joking about putting poop everywhere, including her mouth. She's very Blessed to have a faithful and committed daughter (you) there to take care of her. I do this kind of work, and it can be very stressful on the family. Find good help to assist you on this Journey. Taking breaks of relief will give you the strength needed to endure.

Im curious as to how you deal with her being up 21 hrs a day? How does the family sleep with her walking around? Can she get out any doors to the outside world? Get to the kitchen, stove, garage? Are there locks and alarms on the doors?
Have you addressed the sleeping issue with the doc as well? Has the doc given anything to help her sleep through the night? She might have nights and days reversed. Staying up 21hrs a day can't be good for her physical health either.
You and your family need rest. You can't stay up 21 hrs a day to keep tabs on her.
It is common for the feces to be smeared on beds, walls, body in nursing homes.
I wonder about your mental health hiding things, and trying to pretend it's ok when it's clearly not. Why?
Perhaps you can get aids in to occupy her time during the day, or even give you some respite. It'
Funny that parents will be good as gold around other people, but fight tooth and nail about everything with family. Good luck.
