So a week ago Medline quietly sent out a notice that they're recalling ALL of their hospital and home beds over two safety concerns (FDA had flagged those issues with a recall notice in February).
After explaining the problem, the notice instructs people to disconnect their bed, only use it as a nonelectrical bed, and to remove the hand rails. Yes, they really said that.
I called Medline because I had another concern about the bed. I was told to call the DME supplier to have someone come out and take a look at it. I called them; they said they didn't know why Medline said that because they're not allowed to service any Medline bed.
Clearly Medline is intent on saving its bacon, reducing liability for potential harm caused by their products. They've done so without giving thought to people who very much need a hospital bed to function as one.
Some people received recall notices, but one of my spiritual sisters whose mom's bed was on FDA's recall list was told to contact the DME supplier. But if theirs is like ours, they only supply Medline beds; and at this point, even the DME supplier doesn't know how they're going to replace them.
So, either unplug the bed or risk the hazards and keep using it. What kind of lousy choice is that?
You can read the notice at www.medline.com/pages/product-recalls/medline-beds.

At this time they probably have no idea how they are going to handle this. For now they are telling you to unplug and take off the rails. Next step may be they fix the problem or they replace the beds. That will be between them and the FDA. Once a decision is made, then the suppliers will be told what they need to do. Parts will be sent to them to do repairs or they will just trade out the beds. How long that will take ?.

P.S. I read the recall notice. It does mention SKU#s. Does ur bed have the SKU being recalled?
