Hi  I have heard that if they have direct access to your accounts they will drain them down. Should a smaller account be set-up for the asst living/nursing home?

Thank You! Both ways make good sense.

I never had any issue with any type of caregiving, Assisted Living, or a nursing home take out more money from automatic billing from a bank account.

If you feel uncomfortable letting a facility have access to a bank account, ask them if you can pay by check once you receive the monthly bill.

I monitored on-line my Dad's checking account to make sure the bills matched the copy of the invoice. Also was monitoring to make sure Dad's social security and pension were deposited.

We just had the bill come to the POA who then paid each month. We never gave them approval for automatic withdrawals.
