My husband recently was diagnose with prostate cancer that has spread to the bones. We both have been unable to work since May and June of last year. We could no longer pay our health insurance has we have no income coming in. We both have filed for disability but that is a long process. Mine is at the hearing process. Meanwhile, we still have medication and we need medical treatment, bills to be paid, etc.. Medicaid says we don't qualify. Obamacare says we don't qualify because of no income. Our family is in a critical situation. I have medicine that is needing to be refilled and doctor appointments, mri's and ekg's I have missed. Now my husband is in the same situation as myself. A bad situation has worsen, and we need help. We both have been working since we were 18 years old. My husband is 55 and I am 53. We are swept under the rug through the system.
Medicare covers those under 65 with certain disabilities, ESRD, ALS. One of my BFF is 60 and had rapid onset aphasia became unemployed then onto SSDI and now is covered by Medicare. Establishing disability was key for qualifying.

What is Escambia Community Clinics?
Escambia Community Clinics, Inc.(ECC) is a not for profit 501(c)(3) community health center established in January 1991 and opened for service in November 1992. In 2007, Escambia Community Clinics, Inc. was designated as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) by the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). ECC provides services throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties and surrounding areas designated by HRSA as medically underserved populations and health professional shortage areas.
With over a twenty year history of providing outpatient primary care services to the medically needy, uninsured, underinsured, and working poor citizens of our community, ECC has grown to be the primary medical home for thousands of area residents. ECC operates nine service delivery locations in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, with the main service delivery site located at 14 West Jordan Street in Pensacola. Our other sites, including pediatric, dental and family practice clinics, are located conveniently throughout our service area. ECC also has two 38' mobile units to provide medical and dental outreach to our community.
Where are your clinics located?
ECC has nine fixed sites and two mobile units. ECC's main site is located at 14 W. Jordan Street in Pensacola and other sites are located in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties. A mobile medical unit and a mobile dental unit are also approved sites in ECC's scope of sites.
Are services free?
No, services at Escambia Community Clinics are not free. Patients pay for services according to their income and household size by applying for our sliding fee schedule.
What do I do if I can’t pay for my care?
Your ability to pay should not stop you from receiving the health care you need. You might be eligible to set up a payment plan or we can arrange for you to pay for services on a sliding fee scale.
How can I obtain Medicaid or enroll in Affordable Care Act (ACA) coverage through the Marketplace?
You can see one of our ECC Outreach and Enrollment staff or Financial Counselors at one of our centers and they can assist you with the application process.
Can anyone apply for the sliding fee schedule?
Yes, depending on your financial situation. We encourage everyone to discuss the sliding fee program with our financial counselors and apply for the sliding fee program if they think they are eligible. Links to our welcome letter and sliding fee application are on this website.
