Does your Cat (or any pet) misbehave since caregiving your loved one?
Have you been required to take care of your loved one's pet after they have passed? Does your pet have cute antics that entertain your loved one?
And finally, has the cat or dog transferred their loyalty to your Mother?
Recently my workplace was getting rid of glass mason jars with handles on them. They were drinking mugs that were replaced. I took a case of them home and tried to give them to neighbors and roommates, but no takers. I kept four and donated the rest. Now I wish I'd kept at least six. lol It's hard to strike just the right balance on the spectrum from hoarding to only keeping things that are useful. I find having less space to store stuff helps prioritize.
Me too. I up cycle jars as well.
Mason jars are great for so many things. Quite durable too!
She keeps trying to nurse her momma who is 7 days out from being spayed and momma wasn't having any of that.
Had to go to the vet yesterday because momma got an infection from the spay. We only had her cone off a couple of times and she licked the spot so I guess that was enough to cause problems. Now the cone will be on until Monday when she goes to get her staples out. Hopefully the infection is cleared up fully by then and I can retire her cone for good. It's been a long 2 weeks.
Not looking forward to a repeat on the spaying in a few months for baby.
I think the kitten will be the bridge for introductions between momma and my other two cats. I will now have 2 boys and 2 girls.
I bought the kitten a scratching pad and she looked at it like it was an alien. She swiped at it and did the adorable kitten crab walk as she backed away from it. I know in a few weeks she will love it but that kitten crab walk is cute as hell.
My one boy was born outside and spent a winter under our shed sleeping. We spotted him sometimes coming home before dark to go under it. My husband gained his trust and he would run up to him for food helling his little head off. When we brought him in he was so scared of anything soft like a blanket or a bed. Now he curls up in bed and loves to snuggle under blankets.
When I brought mom’s cat to live with us, I put both cats in crates and had them face each other. It’s an easy way for them to get used to each other. Then I’d let one out of cage for awhile. then switch. Then I’d let one roam in a room while the other had the the rest of the home to wonder.. then switch.
At the beginning when moms cat came to live with us.. snd they were in cages staring at each other, missy started hissing. SIR Barfsalot never heard a hiss before. He grew up with dogs.. it was the funniest thing. It was an attempt with a question mark sort of a hiss.. “huh..hiiis?” What the heck is that noise?
the only aggressive noise he ever heard before missy was a growl.
If it’s your idea to pick him up, he will give you the warning growl, then comes the bite.. not hard, but it’s still a bite…
Cats are fun.. and unpredictable .
HE EARNED that name. :(
I’m just done taking him to the vet. (not really. Just annoyed)
missy too
I figure they were rescued and one is 16 and the other is 14 years old..
missy 16, has a bad skin rash and other issues. Doc called me up and said she has a new heart murmur.. echocardiogram highly suggested.. what?????
I kindly told him she is now my hospice kitty… I’ll keep her happy.. this thing actually purrs while she is eating. It’s fun to hear…
Sur Barfsalot.. poor guy.. poor us when we step in it the following morning..
I try to give them boiled chicken…
we got him 3 days old.. eyes were still closed.. he went with me everywhere.
I took my daughter to school one day. And he would sleep on the dash of my car.. I slid him over to the passenger side of dashboard, and the car next to me was shocked. She thought he was a stuffed animal at first. One day we came home . He wasn’t around.. we sat quietly and yelled for him. He was on top of a telephone pole.. way up high.. DH got the ladder… told me to go get him.. cat trusts you more.. (wonderful)my neighbors house had a 20 foot drop to the yard behind them. I told my DD to give me her jacket. It doesn’t fit you mom.. today it will!!
I climbed up, look down at the backyard . And looked up at sir barfs… as he was deciding to climb higher…no no way.. grabbed him by the scruff and Velcro’d him to the jacket.
he never did that agsin..
nevervsawxa crow as a pet before.
I knew about the kitten because I saw my friend's Facebook post/picture a month ago. The kitten is short-haired, white-with-gray markings, and around four months old. I didn't volunteer to adopt her when I saw the post, even though I thought about it.
But then my friend texted me this week and asked if I wanted to take her. I asked about the kitten's personality and needs and then decided, yup, I'll take her!
So maybe as soon as next week, I'll have a kitten in the house. 😻
Enjoy your new kitty! 🐈⬛
And of course, I checked with my two roomies before I brought a cat into the place, and one had asked that she have all her first shots and any needed flea treatment prior to coming here. All that and more was done. Check, check.
New Kitty Day is getting closer, and I'm excited!
My friend's daughter named her Angel. I thought Halo would be cute, and I can explain to the daughter (10yo?) that it's what angels wear on their heads. She's a white/gray kitty, so it's an apropos name..? Idk. I like it. :)
Congrats on the new fur baby. Love the name Halo. And yes the name fits her !
I bet that you are falling in love with your kitty! They are so cute.
My daughter just got pet insurance for her dog because her last vet visit was a fortune! She used her credit card and is going to have to pay it off in time.
She says that she will be saving a lot of money since she has insurance now.
Halo is a great name!
Awwww…he sounds precious! Asher is cute too.
One of my friends took in a stray cat that wandered into their yard. They already had a cat and they named their new kitty, Extra!
He really loves this catnip mouse we bought him. He rolled around on the floor, bunny-kicking it with his feet. Then throwing it into the air and doing 4-legged launches to jump up and catch it. Then later when he was asleep, he woke up, jumped out of his little bed and ran straight to the mouse to start all over again. He's pretty funny.
We're going to pick out a Christmas tree tonight. I can't imagine how a decorated tree will hold up with him around. This might be a year to leave the more expensive decorations off the tree.
I was sick so much during November and December, so I kept putting off picking H up, and my friend was saying they were happy to keep her another week or so since her kids like the cat. Then I was literally on the way to driving out to my friend's place an hour away in mid-December with a little soft-sided cat carrier when I realized that no one would be at my place for a week during Christmas, and I didn't think I should leave a new kitty in a new place alone. So friend and I agreed she should keep her through Christmas.
I texted her the day I was driving back to my city to arrange to get her, and *crickets.* The next day, she texted me that, while she feels terrible about doing this to me, she feels bad about giving the kitty away because her daughter is attached, and also friend feels the kitty helps her daughter with emotional regulation... it's her support kitty, basically.
Welp.
I had set up everything at my place - food, litter box, toys... And now it's just sad looking to me.
But it's ok. Obviously, I didn't bond with this cat, though I was so excited to get her. I'm not (too) upset with my friend, and I understand! I told her to make the decision that was right for her family, and I'm ok with it.
She has to get "permission" from her husband to keep the kitty, though, since that was never the plan, and hubs thinks they have enough animals already. We'll see what happens.
I may or may not seek to adopt from one of the local shelters if I don't get Halo. I wasn't thinking of getting a cat right away since I'm busy with work and school, but then I was very excited to get Halo. I'm a little lost on how I feel now.
Bummer. 😕
Sorry about Halo . If it’s meant to be it will . If not , then you choose the right time next time . ((Hugs)).
Cats are easier to leave home while you work. Easier to leave for vacation because they have litter boxes. Food can be left out for them on daytrips. Easy to find someone to come in and care for them. No walking.
So sorry about Halo. There are so many fur babies in shelters that need homes. I am sure that you will find another one when the time is right for you to adopt a new kitty.
About 45 minutes away from Denver there is a wildlife reserve. She went to visit it. She just called me and told me that they rescued tigers from our city, New Orleans!
Crazy story…A person was raising tigers and left them in their car. One of the cubs died, they saved the rest of them. People are absolutely disgusting regarding how they treat animals.
No one should be raising tigers as pets! I didn’t watch Tiger King. I suppose some people are trying to copy his behavior. It’s sick and cruel!
Cat had tried to drink out of a glass DH had left out. He tried to sip out of it. Tipped it over.
I'm so angry. If cat needs vet services, that on me. He has no funds. Just fuming. And going grey rock.
Any advice totally appreciated!
