This isn't a question, just an experience and some perspective for anyone who might be going through an amputation, already has, or knows someone who is. I had my big toe on my right foot amputated in October 2024 (blister I got while hiking, diabetic ulcer, bad treatment recommended by a doctor, infection etc). I was 39 years old and it was awful. I'm recovered now, back to hiking and yoga and working full-time and other than becoming a model for flip flops I don't have any issues. I tried everything I could to prevent the amputation but it just wasn't in my cards. It doesn't make me unhealthy, stupid, negligent or anything else. I'm still the same person I've always been, just one toe less and with a different doctor. Anyways, if anyone out there would like any advice or perspective or anything else from someone who's been through it, let me know. If you have negativity or judgement or whatever, don't waste your time because I genuinely don't care and won't respond to any hate 😊👍
thank you for sharing. I've been on this forum for a few years. I didn't think about diabetes, although my last few blood draws view it differently that I should be aware...
today a friend reached out to me regarding her brother's dog. She's trying to re-home the dog. Brother just had had his toe amputated. He is in shock. She thinks it's both his health and having to re-home his dog...
QUESTION: How long did it take for you to recover or recuperate from this operation? I know it is different for everyone, but I am hoping for a truthful answer from you and perhaps answers from others seeing this post,
I don't know this man or all his health issues, age, or lifestyle.
All I can tell you is, I'd be upset to lose a toe and Also My Cute Dog, because, maybe I wouldn't be able to take her for a walk to do her duties outside...
Today I met a cute and sweet dog. I cannot say the cutest, my old dog would be very upset if she read this...
shhhh!🫢
I can see why he would be upset...
if it weren't for my dog at her place in life, I'd snatch her up in a second, even if I were only fostering her until brother got better... I did suggest this idea to her as well..
realistically I'm just trying to find an average timeline for a person to get up and take a few steps.,
I also suggested to look into Rover.com. inhome dog care..
sometimes you don't think your health truly matters until you look at your loved ones, be it human, animal, or plant!!
My friend can vouch for that!
98 today 🤗. Going strong 🥰.
Flip flops are not good for you anyway🤣
